School, Sushi, and Dragon Tattoos

To keep you updated on my life, I started my first week of classes. Luckily that consists of only 3 days of classes per week, but 9 hours of classes on Wednesdays. I hate Wednesdays.

I would like to talk about the class that will soon kill me. A design class (which I thought I was done with for the year, what a joke). Just found out that I have to design from scratch a glucometer, blood pressure cuff, heart rate gage, plus a few more instrument that can all record the data and send it through wifi to a computer for primary caregiver or doctor access. So this class will kill me .... It's a good thing I am working with all asians in my group because I don't know how to do one little portion of it, seeing as we learn mechanical stuff at CUA and not so much electronics. Ef. My. Life.

On the bright side, I did survive through classes. One of my professors looks like an asian Michael Jackson.

Classes are so weird. Students talk through the entire class and play on phones and iPads like its their jobs. Teachers also told us to not show up at all if we were gonna be late (its a 3 hour class..??) but I think about 3 out of 25 students are there by the first 10 mins of class. Most stroll in a half hour to hour later.....yet they are all still smart ass asians....I will never understand.

We went to get some sushi and see a movie tonight. The movie (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) was actually in English too. Prime. The sushi was awesome, minus the squids and tentacles in our rice....

(full squid. Om nom.)

(WASABIII)

Fun facts about as asians:
1. They love juice boxes.
2. They wear speedos to swim (especially old fat asian men).
3. 7-11s are their favorite store.
4. Their public restrooms never have toilet paper, and sometimes have buckets of water for you to flush them.
5. They lack vegetables hardcore. All I crave in my life right now is just some veggiessss.
6. Netflix and Amazon Prime do not work over here. So lame.

The Vegas of Asia MACAU

The adventures keep coming and now we have Macau.
Macau is know to be the Vegas of Asia, as it makes twice the revenue and is growing like crazy, but honestly, I don't think it was all that awesome. Nice to see it once, but that's it.
So Macau is like Hong Kong: it is owned by China yet not part of it, just recently gaining their independence from Portugal (rather than England like Hong Kong).
To get there is a simple ferry ride (that took us 4 hours one way because of customs eff my life).

And here is Macau:

(what? You don't know what casino this is??)

(andddd I want)

The streets of Macau are personally my favorite part.

(ruins of an old church)

(fortress shooting the giant corn casino)

(the residential streets)

(moped gang??)

(MJ display thing at Ponte 16 casino. So sweeettttt)

(Billie Jean!)

(Local Macanese restaurant. We had to point at pictures to order....haha)

(nighttime by the casinos)

(the bus had ninja print seats. Awesome)

Fun facts about asians:
1. They have workout equipment at playgrounds.
2. They cannot drink at casinos.
3. You can smoke almost any place indoors, but there are many outdoor restrictions for smoking (pretty much any street with lots of pedestrians you cannot smoke).
4. Lots of Canadians hate Americans (you're friggen Canadian, shush.). As well as Germans but that's not as surprising.

LARGE Buddha

Here are some pictures of nom nom local food we got. This is actually Thai, not Cantonese, but virtually the same to Americans....PS. I am getting better at chopsticks :))))

So we decided to take a little field trip to go see some large monument to Buddha up in the mountains at A Buddhist monastery.

First time riding the metro here in Hong Kong (the MTR)

To get to the monastery, you needed to take a cable car that went miles into the mountains of Hong Kong Island. When we went, the sun was just starting to set.

(Stairs going up to the cable car)

(the CUA students plus 2 other American exchange students)

(BUDDHA)

And here is all the touristy stuff up at the monastery.

(hahaha little asian boy)

(ew earlobes)

(new collection to my travels bracelets)

(square outside cable car to monastery)
Fun Facts about asians:
1. LOVE Christmas. They still have the music playing EVERYWHERE. Entire skyscrapers have Christmas designs in lights along all their faces. It's insane.

2. They are the slowest walkers.
3. They don't know what a personal bubble is.
4. They tend to have really nasty teeth.
